Baotou Vanke Central Park transformed a former wasteland into a lush landscape of lake, rolling hills, meadows and gardens.
The project is situated on 22 acres between Baotou Wenhua Road, the Qingshan freeway of Baotou City, Inner Monologue, P.R. China
As one of the major drought and water-deficient cities in northwest China, water resources that can be observed and play a role in microclimate regulation are very scarce in evaporation cities.
The rainwater collected from the roof of the building and the treated reclaimed water can also supplement the water of the landscape lake.
While a healthy and low-maintenance landscape lake is presented to the public, we hope to inject some artistic and beautiful scenes into the interactive participation between people and the lake
The earthwork excavated by community buildings can not only effectively organize the collected rainwater to supplement the water of landscape lake through small wetlands, grass ditches and culverts, but also enrich the terrain of the park and create activity zones with diverse experiences.
Design and sustainability come together in this project to produce a new type of urban landscape that is active, innovative, resource-conscious, and ecologically rich.
Different event scenario and different feeling experience in various seasons.
The amphitheater in the heart of the park is a gathering place for outdoor communication
The Sparking bridge is the smart projection in the sun or the starlight of the bridge at night, people can stop and feel the perfect combination of ecology and art in the park.
Sparking bridge with hyperboloid punched steel plate as the main body and crescent-shaped green islands floating on the lake.
Along with the existing watershed terrain and the alignment of the lake integrates to create diverse flow patterns which are characteristic of natural water systems, creating ecologically valuable, natural and diverse habitats for biodiversity.
The sustainable collaboration offers a new model in the Inner Monologue, creates a rare large open water surface in Baotou City.
The project offers a new model of sustainability for similarly scaled projects-- one that carefully balances environmental and cultural considerations.
