The ASLA award winning City of Aspen Parks and Open Space Department is accepting resumes and work samples from talented landscape designers/architects for full time employment in Aspen, Colorado. Located in the upper Roaring Fork Valley, the City of Aspen Parks and Open Space team oversees an impressive portfolio of parks and recreation facilities along with an extensive open space and trails network. The ideal candidate is committed to design innovation, sustainability, and working on projects in an incredible mountain setting.
Position works under the direct supervision of the Parks Landscape Architect & Construction Manager.
Compensation:Â $75,305 – $84,715, commensurate with experience

Essential Job Functions:Â
•   Manages landscape architectural planning and design tasks associated with the development of parks, trails, open space areas, Nordic trails, streetscapes, pedestrian malls, natural areas, agricultural amenities, recreation facilities and other City of Aspen assets.
•   Provides design input, technical assistance, project management, and oversight through all phases of the design process: including construction management, construction administration, direct field supervision of construction crews and construction implementation.
•   Assists in assigning project tasks and the management of staff schedules to ensure timely and efficient project completion. Serves as liaison with construction contractors and subcontractors engaged on Parks Department projects.
•   Provides design and technical assistance and support to Parks Department planning/ design staff and other City of Aspen departments.
•   Coordinates and retains necessary consultants and auxiliary support to perform specific project tasks involving landscape architects, architects, engineers, surveyors, product suppliers, utility providers, graphic designers, and other professionals.
•   Solicits potential projects through the procurement process, prepares Request for Proposals and administers selection of potential candidates.
•   Performs various professional, administrative and technical work and provide project, staff and construction crew oversight for the implementation of the parks and open space department capital design and construction projects.
•   Manages project budgets, processes payments and provides project status reports to the planning, design and construction manager.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture.
Experience: Â Three years of professional experience within the landscape architecture field.
