SE Group is seeking a Recreation & Resort Designer/Landscape Architect to join one of our offices in Burlington, VT or Frisco, CO.  This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a growing team of experts that are at the forefront of planning and designing spaces that align outdoor recreation and active lifestyles. Your portfolio will include mountain resorts, mountain bike parks, nature preserves/state parks, and hospitality projects across the country – our work takes us to places that most people save for a vacation!

This position is designed for candidates that are relatively new to the Landscape Architecture field and provides opportunities for growth. So if you’re self-motivated and eager to make a difference – and you thrive in collaborative environments – we want to hear from you!

About SE Group
At SE Group, our work is grounded in the belief that outdoor recreational experiences are a powerful foundation for thriving communities. This belief is the driving force behind our passion for uncovering the unique potential of every place and space we serve.

SE Group has been the industry leader in the planning and design of mountain resorts since 1958. Over the years, our team has grown to include landscape architects, community planners, environmental analysts, and economic advisors that are pioneering how communities across the country think about recreation, tourism, and outdoor spaces. Whether it’s a multi-season mountain resort or a schoolyard playground, our clients trust us to lead them from first spark of inspiration to final phase of implementation.

With hubs in Utah, Colorado, and Vermont, we are lucky live in the heart of some of the amazing recreational communities we serve.  We all share a passion for getting outside (in its many diverse forms) and SE Group is committed to offering an exceptional employee experience that honors this, as well as one that promotes collaboration, mentorship, growth – and laughter!

Position Priorities
As part of the Landscape Architecture team, this position will work closely with project managers and other staff while contributing to all aspects of SE Group’s design efforts. This is a full-time role for candidates that are comfortable working as an essential member in a group of cooperative, open, and innovative design professionals.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Concept Design/Analysis: work alongside team members and clients to apply aesthetic and functional design to a site through the process of site analysis, schematic design and design development, all the way to construction documents.
  • CAD Drafting: develop building and grading plans for our full suite of projects, from ski base areas to riverfront parks.
  • 3D Modeling: create 3D models using programs like SketchUp, Rhino, and Lumion to articulate and study site design options.
  • Graphic Design: develop creative articulations of project outcomes to the client and community stakeholders (maps, signs, presentations, branding, etc).

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or related field from an accredited institution. We are open to a variety of backgrounds, but this position is primarily designed for candidates that are relatively new to the field of Landscape Architecture and have 0 to 3 years of professional experience.

Other required skills and experience include:

  • Strong ability to communicate ideas graphically; hand-sketching skills are preferred – show us your skills in your portfolio!
  • Proficiency with design tools such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud suite, and 3D-modeling platforms – you’ll use these tools day-in and day-out to communicate your work
  • Excellent writing skills – this position requires you to be able to contribute to projects narratively
  • A curious and entrepreneurial spirit – you don’t just “do the job”
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once, often with varying scales/scopes – this work will require you to be highly organized
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high results in an independent work setting – key in our new hybrid office setting

We are primarily operating in a hybrid work environment and being able to occasionally meet, collaborate, socialize in the same space is vital to our team dynamic. Candidates that live (or can relocate) within reasonable driving distance of our Burlington, Vermont or Frisco, Colorado office will be preferred.

What you can expect from us

  • In conformance with Colorado law, the anticipated salary range for this position is between $50,000 and $60,000, depending upon qualifications and experience.
  • 401k + 4% company match
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance (premiums 100% covered for employees)
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) program with $2,000 annual employer contribution
  • Long-term disability and life insurance coverage
  • Generous vacation policy that promotes wellness (we want to you to be balanced!)
